Leo Manzano Marble Falls Mustang Inv.

At one time, he was of the world's best middle distance runners. The Mexican-American born athlete rose to the top of his sport, but came from the University of Texas and Marble Falls High School.

Leo Manzano was a high school super star and won nine UIL 4A state championships with high school PRs of 1:50.48 (800m), 4:06.29 (1600m), and 9:07.18 (3200m) before he even graduated high school.

Manzano became a super star that came from a small place and now he is back where things started, in Marble Falls, Texas making a difference. This weekend's meet dons his name side by side with the name of the school where he made his mark.

The Leo Manzano Marble Falls Mustang Invitational will begin it's first year of running tomorrow and hundreds of kids from Central Texas will compete including many kids from Marble Falls High School. The team is doing well and possibly even has a new Manzano is in the making.

Junior, Bailey Goggans is making a name for herself, but she is doing it in nearly the same fashion as Manzano did. She already has three state championships through two and a half years through high school.

At 8:00 a.m., the Marble Falls cross country teams will host a huge meet, when they will be out to show they are ready for the road to the state meet, which begins this month.
