Seventeen-year-old Justin Robinson continued his fabulous junior year, winning the bronze medal in the 400m at the Pan American Games on Thursday. Robinson, who ran 44.84 at the Great Southwest Classic in June, posted a mark of 45.07, to finish behind Colombia's Anthony Zambrano and Jamaica's Demish Gaye. NCAA 400m finalists Wil London and Jonathan Jones took fourth and fifth, respectively.

Robinson is scheduled to compete in the 4x400m at the end of the meet.

Shericka Jackson won the women's 400m in 50.73. American Courtney Okolo took third in 51.22.

USC hurdlers grabbed a pair of silver medals on Thursday. Chanel Brissett placed second in the 100m hurdles, running 12.99 to finish behind Costa Rica's Andrea Carolina Vargas, who ran 12.82. Brissett's teammate Anna Cockrell ran 55.50 in the 400m hurdles. Sage Watson of Canada, who was originally disqualified before being reinstated, won the gold medal in 55.16.

There was also plenty of drama in the men's 400m hurdles. Juander Santos of the Dominican Republic was leading the race until tripping and falling over the final hurdle. Alison Brendom Alves Dos Santos of Brazil took advantage and glided to a victory of 48.45, a lifetime best. American Amere Lattin rallied late and took third in 48.98.
