Coach Byron Leaving Nansemond River, Going To...


After a very successful seven years at Nansemond River, Coach Justin Byron announced this week that he has accepted a new position with Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He will be an assistant track coach in charge of women's sprints, relays, and both genders' hurdles. 

During his tenure at Nansemond River he has coached ten national champion relay teams, multiple state records, and won numerous state team titles as well. This past indoor season his boys won the 4x2 national title while his girls finished second and US #3 all-time. 

Some of the big name athletes he has coached over the years are: Michael Cherry, Shakeela Saunders, Brandee' Johnson, Kori Carter, and numerous others. He was also named Coach of The Year by MileStat.com (VA) four years ago.
