Lauren Rain Williams Transferring From Oregon To USC

Oregon's roster took another hit on Thursday with news that sprinter Lauren Rain Williams will transfer to USC, according to Ken Goe of The Oregonian

In her freshman season, Rain Williams qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 200m and was a part of Oregon's second-place 4x100m team. She went on to finish second in the 200m at the U20 World Championships in July.

On Wednesday, Oregon's roster revealed several other big names would not be returning for the 2018-2019 season including distance runners Katie Rainsberger, Lili Burdon, Mick Stanovstek and Tanner Anderson.

Incoming freshman Josh Hoey is also not listed on the roster, while fellow freshman Brodey Hasty was released from his commitment to the Ducks and will attend Northern Arizona University in the fall.

But Rain Williams is the first non-distance runner to leave the squad. She initially committed to USC in November of 2016, but switched her commitment in April 2017 to head to Eugene.

With the Trojans, she will add even more depth to a team that won the outdoor national championship on the strength of their sprints, hurdles and relays.
