Davis and Montemayor Highlight ULM Track

LUBBOCK, Texas – Heather Davis and Destiny Montemayor recorded personal bests in the high jump and weight throw respectively, as the ULM track team had another solid outing at the Texas Tech Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Davis cleared a height of nearly six feet as she took home first place in the high jump competition, coming in just ahead of Texas Tech’s Kelsey Lloyd. Montemayor broke her own record, which the program high mark, as she recorded a toss of 18.25 meters.

Natasha Washington added a win in the triple jump to the list of accomplishments for the Warhawks. She leaped a distance of 11.76 meters.

“We improved in just about every area,” head coach J.D. Malone said. “We got to run some different races than we did at LSU. It was a good competition.”

On the men’s side, Seth Ilaoa finished fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 16.10 meters. Moses Chelimo crossed in third in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:31.85. Fellow Warhawk Britt Koestler came in just behind Chelimo, finishing fourth with a time of 15:31.94.

Andrew Opata turned in a time of 1:54.50 in the 800 meter run, which was good enough for a fourth-place finish.

The Warhawks return to action at the LSU Twilight in Baton Rouge, La. on Feb. 20.
