LA Tech: Men and Women's 4X400 Excel in Arkansas

RUSTON--The Louisiana Tech indoor track and field team had a number of top finishes this weekend against some of the nation's best competition in an un-scored meet at the University of Arkansas.

"We had an extremely successful showing this weekend," Louisiana Tech head coach Gary Stanley said. "The meet wasn't scored as most are, but we had a number of top finishes that will be in the top of the conference. There was some great competition here and we ran right with them. Now we are going to take a week off before we go to compete at Texas A&M."

Louisiana tech competed in an un-scored meet against top teams such as Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Mississippi State, North Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, Southern, TCU and Tulsa.

The Techsters had a very successful showing in the triple jump in which Quatisha Williams brought home a second place finish with a jump of 40' 7.5" while team mate Brittany Guy finished just out of the top five at sixth place with a jump of 38' 9.75".

Junior Tiera Hall finished third in the shot put with a throw of 45' 3.5".

The women's 4X400 relay team had yet another great run as they finished fifth with a time of 3:44 topping their time from last weeks meet by four seconds.

The men's 4X400 relay team also had a good showing, finishing fifth as well with one of the top times in school history at 3:13.15.

Sophomore Larry Jones chipped in for the men with a top ten finish in the shot put. Jones finished sixth with a throw of 48' 4.75".

Also senior Kinsey Dinnel did not have a top ten finish in the mile run as the event was loaded with top talent, but Dinnel did finish with an impressive mile time of 4:13.2.

Louisiana tech will now take a week off before leaving to compete in the Texas A&M Invitational on Feb. 13 and 14.
