Salute To Seniors: Raelynn Price (Baton Rouge)

Baton Rouge's Raelynn Price finished out a high school career with numerous top 6 state meet finishes in the 400 and 800. Her best finish though came with a runner-up state meet finish in the 5A girls 800 earlier this month with a 2:17 performance. She stayed consistently in the 57-58 second range in the 400 over the last two outdoor seasons. She will be attending and competing Southern University next.

Name: Raelynn Price

School: Baton Rouge Magnet High School

What was your most memorable race/throw/jump/vault/moment?

When I ran the 800m at regionals my sophomore year I PR'd with a 2:16 and made it to state and my junior year at regionals when I PR'd in the 400m and made it to state.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

In the 800m Chelsea Jones and in the 400m Janie O'Conner and Indya Jackson.

                                              What was your greatest accomplishment?

Making it to state in the 400m and 800m my senior year.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

Taking my training more serious and pushing myself more.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Believing in myself and knowing what I was capable of. It was sometimes hard for me to be confident in myself and believing in myself and trusting my training. I always doubted what I can really do and didn't feel I had it in me to really win.

What will you miss the most?

Meeting new people and having funny memories with my team.

What advice would you give to younger athletes?

Always believe in yourself, be confident, and don't hold back from trying new things.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

I never planned on running 800m in high school but my coaches helped me realize I can be really good at it.

                                              What are your college plans?

                                              Running at Southern University.

Who would you like to say 'thank you' to?

Coach Winfield, Coach Terry and Dez and the SBR Jags family, Dr. Donald and all my teammates and the girls I have gotten a chance to compete with. The BRH track family.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

"We know what we are, but not know what we may become"
