ULL XC Gets Final Run in Before SBC Meet

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in their final meet before the upcoming Sun Belt Conference Championships as both squads participated in the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival here Saturday morning.

 

The Cajuns’ men ran a 10K course for the first time this season. The Cajuns’ women took part in their third 6K event of the season.

 

Louisiana’s participation on both sides was highlighted by redshirt freshmen Alex Breaux finishing in the Top 100 on the men’s side of the prestigious event. Breaux finished the race in 31:50.97 for 82nd place. He was 50 seconds off a Top 50 finish.

 

Paula Parker paced the UL women for the fourth time this season. Parker traversed the 6K course in 24:15.86 – besting her season-best 6K time by 31 seconds.

 

Ashley Faulk also registered her season-best 6K time running Saturday’s 6K in 24:32.56 (previous best was 24:59.30 at LSU). Jenna Picou bested her 6K marks by two-plus minutes.

 

Reese Lee (34:24.39), Joby Gisclair (34:53.00), Stuart Theriot (35:36.28) and Marshall Kemp (35:44.63) all counted toward the men’s team total along with Breaux.

 

The men finished 23rd of 30 teams with 656 total points. The women turned in at 36th out of 39 with 1,057 total points.

 

Both teams take next week off to prepare for the Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Championships being held Nov. 1 in Bowling Green, Kent.
