WHITE HITS REGIONAL MARK AT TIGER RELAYS

BATON ROUGE - Senior thrower Teremine White took first in the discus, and hit an NCAA Regional Qualifying mark, with a throw of 54.85 m (179 ft, 11 in) and had four throws over 17.0 m in the shot put, capping his day with a 17.86 toss in the shot put to claim second place at the Tiger Relays on Sunday.

"Teremine just went out of his mind," Southeastern head track coach Sean Brady said. "He had an unbelievable day in the throws. As a team it was a pretty good meet. We got to see some teams like Houston and UCONN that we don't normally get to see, and it was a chance for our student-athletes to compete in a pretty intense environment. I was really pleased with a lot of our efforts and I feel we're on the right track as we prepare for the heart of our outdoor schedule."

In addition to White's performance, the men's distance medley team claimed first place honors, and the men's 4x400 m relay squad was having what Brady called the group's best performance until an athlete from another school tripped up the Lions on the final leg.

On the women's side, Judith Schultheis took sixth in the 100 m hurdles with a time of 14.80 and fifth in the 400 m hurdles with a time of 1:03.55.

Sophomore pole vaulter Aqueelah El-Amin, the reigning Southland Conference Female Athlete of the Week, took second in the pole vault with a vault of 3.70m (12 ft. 1.5 in.).

Senior Leonie Ezegbunum, who battled injuries during the indoor season, returned in the triple jump. The Nassau, Bahamas native claimed third with a jump of 11.99m (39-04.00).

"Judy Schultheis had a great day. She scared a school record, missing it by a couple hundredths of a second," Brady said. "Aqueelah had another great day in the pole vault, clearing 12 feet and Leonie looks like she's coming around."

The Lions and Lady Lions will be back in action April 2-5 at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.
