WHITE SETS NEW SHOT PUT MARK IN LAST CHANCE MEET

 

BATON ROUGE - Southeastern Louisiana University senior thrower Teremine White set a new school mark in the men\'s shot put with a throw of 17.03 m (55 ft. 10.5 in) as he finished second to LSU\'s Ricky Jean Francois at the 2008 LSU Last Chance Meet. White\'s throw was beat the previous record of 55 ft. 9.75 in set by Ruben Stephens in 2007.

Senior thrower Teremine White set a new indoor mark on Friday.
White joins classmate Kim Carriere from the women\'s side in setting a new indoor mark on Friday. Carriere set a new school record in the indoor weight throw with a toss of 17.5 m (57 ft. 5 in.) en route to a first place finish at the 2008 LSU Last Chance Meet. Carriere\'s mark bested fellow Southeastern thrower Coleena Collins\' school record of 54 ft 8 in. set in 2007.

Lady Lion thrower Colleena Collins, who along with Carriere has given Southeastern at least one female thrower in the top ten in every indoor event this season, finished third in the weight throw with a toss of 16.20 m (53 ft. 1.75 in.).

Senior jumper Babatunde Babalola also made waves in Baton Rouge, claiming first place in the high jump clearing 2.10 m (6 ft. 10.75 in.).

Senior thrower Dwight Womack finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 18.00 m (59 ft. 0.75 in).
