Louisiana Recap for NXN and AAU Nationals

A light-up map of the NXN course inside the athlete locker area at Glendoveer golf course.

Devyn Keith, after placing 2nd at the NXR at the Woodlands two weeks ago finished 84th in the field of almost 200 runners from across the country.  It rained the majority of the weekend leaving the course muddy in various parts, but overall the golfing facility was very well kept.  The race had a mystique about it that no other cross country race could rival.  Anyway you went you ran into a state champion (or even national champion considering last year's winning teams were back this year too).  The meet actually set a record with 59 state champions in the field, most of any race ever.  If you could imagine a race where Devyn Keith, Eric Coston, Gabrielle Jennings, and Olivia Murphy types are just average runners, you have an idea of this meet.

Devyn Keith finished with the 4th and 5th runners from Great Oak (Temecula), CA, the new national champions.

It was also a meet where you could throw a rock in any direction and hit a professional runner.  Mo Farah, Galen Rupp, Alberto Salazar, Matt Centrowitz, and Andrew Wheating were some of the names seen around Portland.

Professional athlete q&a was part of the festivities.  Colleen Quigley was asked to a prom on stage.  Not joking.
