CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Southeastern Louisiana runner Kalphys Kemboi was named Southland Conference Freshman of the Year after finishing third at the SLC Cross Country Championships Saturday morning at West Guth Park.

"Kalphys was tremendous for us today and we're extremely proud of his performance this morning," Southeastern head coach Sean Brady said. "We would've like to seen our team finish better, but we can't take away anything from Kalphys' finish."
