Rollette Invitational: Malia 16:52 - moves to #3 in the nation

St. Thomas Aquinas Sophmore Malia Cali leads the lady falcons to a fifth place team finish in Friday's Eighth Annual STA-Rollette Chiropractic Cross Country Invitational held on the STA campus, Mount Carmel Academy swept the team title over Academy of Sacred Heart-New Orleans(32-64), Sumner lpaced seventh and Albany 9th. Cali led the way with a first place finish in the varsity girls 3 mile race with a personal best time of (16:52), the fastest time ever run in a Varsity girls race in the state of Louisiana and moved her to the third fastest time run for 3 miles in the nation(according to the DYESTAT Ranking system). Also running well for the lady falcons was freshman Jordyn Becerra by placing ninth(19:47) with her personal best time for the season. Michelle Mobley placed (27th-21:03), Elizabeth Gambel(21:57-37th), Molly O'Krepki(23:42-63rd), Katie Durham(24:45-74th) and Kourtney Brumfield(26:45-92nd).

The Walker High School boys won the Varsity boys division over Sumner(20-47), followed by Pope John Paul(96), St. Thomas Aquinas(104) and Ponchatoula(108). Sumner's Cody Trout led the way to win the Varsity boys race with a time of (16:17). Ponchatoula's Daniel Waller finished tenth(17:41). Randy Wills led the STA boys with a seventh place finish(17:16), Bruce O'Krepki(24th-18:57), Gus O'Krepki(30th-19:21), Max O'Krepki(33rd-19:32) and Murphy Fleenor(42nd-20:36). Mandeville JH's Elizabeth Manuel won the JH girls two mile race(12:38), while Sumner's Avelina Trout was the top local finisher(14th-15:11). Walker HS won the Junior High boys division over Holy Ghost, with a score of 33 for both teams, WHS won the tie braker with their six runner, HGS did not have a sixth runner. Holy Ghost Tommy Brocato won easily in (11:23), while teamates Blake Cordoba(2nd-12:10), Ben Schnadelbach(11th-13:16), Corbett Ourso(13th-13:18) and Chase Piediscalzo(20th-15:07).

St. Joseph's Kramer Jackson posted a fourth place finish(12:22), while Trafton's Eric Coston was sixth(12:29). St. Joseph's Callie Fulmer finished third in the Middle School girls one mile race(7:31), while HGS's Grace Bernard was sixth(7:40) and Albany's Jordyn Tantillo was seventh(7:45). Kramer Jackson also led the St. Joseph's boys to a first place team finish in the middle school boys division with an individual first place finish in (5:56). Luke Bleakley was second(6:20), Ronald Pembo third(6:33), Timothy Poche(5th-6:56) and Adam Tournillion(6th-6:57). Albany's Fabien Disedare was ninth(7:23).

Albany Elementary won the elementary girls team award with aperfect score of (15). HGS's Courtney Dawsey won the race in (6:52), while Trafton's Meghan Becerra was second(7:10) and D.C. Reeves Ashley Perricone was fifth(7:30) and Albany's Camryn Flanagan was sixth(7:49). The Holy Ghost boys won the elementary division over Albany elementary 20-42. Trafton's Reed Bolton won the race in (6:35), while Dylan Kinchen from Alabany elementary was second (6:46). Justin Jones led the HGS attack with a third place finish(6:47), followed by Brady Becerra(4th-6:47), Cooper Jordan(5th-6:48), Clayton Ourso(10th-7:44), Jacob Bordok(11th-7:48), Ryan Dawsey(12th-7:51) and Ryan Amerson(15th-8:28).

Trafton's Victoria Cefalu won the sub-elementary girls 1/2 mile race (3:32), while HGS's Mary Claire Hoover was second(3:40). St. Joseph's Cade Bleakley won the sub-elementary boys race with a time of (3:19), while HGS's Jacob Becerra was second(3:23). Cade Meyers led the Trafton boys to the team title with a perfect score of (15), he posted a fourth place finish in(4:00), while teammates Dante' Thomas(5th-4:06), Jesse Littell(6th-4:13), Drake Bartels(7th-4:17), Jonathan Neal(8th-4:26) and Joss Burns(9th-5:02).
