Warhawks Finish Regular Season Strong at Crimson Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Headlined by a big showing from senior Hillary Kirwa, the ULM cross country teams rounded out the regular season strong at the Crimson Classic at the Harry Pritchett Running Course, hosted by the University of Alabama.

Kirwa led the men's squad with a top-45 showing in the 8K race with a time of 26:08.51. He beat out more than 200 competitors in a race that featured several top-25 programs.

ULM had four more student-athletes finish within 41 seconds of each other in the top-165 as sophomore Vinnie Van Puyvelde registered a time of 27:19.96, sophomore Jonathan Jeffcoat 27:27.66, sophomore Brent Turner 27:46.86 and freshman James Turner 28:00.79. Overall, the men finished 20th out of 33.

Freshman Kristin Cave highlighted the women's performance with a time of 20:54.42. Junior Rebecca Dark and Anakaren Lopez followed with close times of 22:07.05 and 22:23.96, respectively, and Rebecca Fontenot finished in 23:58.06 to round it out. The ULM women competed as individuals without a team score.

The Warhawks will now focus all their attention on the SBC Championships. They will have two weeks to train before racing on Sunday, Nov. 2 in Mobile, Ala., hosted by the University of South Alabama.
