CLINTON, Miss. - Privateers Cross Country completed their fourth meet of the 2014 season on Friday evening at the Waston Ford Invitational.
Running the Choctaw Trails for the third time in four years, the Privateers men finished the event in 7th place out of 24 teams, ahead of fellow Southland Conference mate Nicholls, and Louisiana schools Loyola, Centenary, and Southern.
Using his familiarity with the Trails, sophomore runner
Clayton O'Callaghan finished in 21st place with a time of 27:39.42, shaving more than 72 seconds off his time on the course from 2013. Two other Privateers men finished in the top 40 out of the nearly 170 strong field, with
Blake Robertson and
Edmund Pine turning in times of 27:57:89 (27th) and 28:19.71 (34th) respectively.
The women's team was running the course for the first time in program history, and finished 17th out of 24 teams.
Callie Willcox led the women, placing 37th out of 165 runners. The junior finished with a time of 25:56.20.
Privateers Cross Country's next meet in on Oct. 17 when they travel down I-10 West to Lafayette for the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns Invitational.
