ULL Qualify Two for NCAA Regionals at SBC Meet

LAFAYETTE-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns captured several awards and qualified for the NCAA Regional Meet in the men’s 110 meter hurdles and the 4X100 meter relay in Sunday’s portion of the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Kyle Ward qualified for the NCAA Regional Meet after placing second in the men’s 110 meter hurdles. Ward’s time of 14.07 seconds easily surpassed that regional qualifying time of 14.30 seconds, earning him eight points for the UL men. Ward is the fourth individual Cajun to qualify for the regional meet.
The UL men’s 4X100 meter relay time, composed of Justin Arceneaux, Chreston Anderson, Roderick Houston and Jason Chery, placed third and earned six points for the Cajuns. The team’s time of 40.62 seconds qualified it for the NCAA Regional Meet. This is the first UL relay event to qualify.
Arceneaux also placed third in the 100 meter dash earning six points with his time of 10.53 seconds. Herman Clark finished third in the 400 meter hurdles, recording a time of 53.87 seconds. Clark also scored six points.
Also for the UL men, regional qualifier Stacey Fuller placed fourth in the 400 meter dash earning five points with his time of 47.07 seconds. Joseph Dickens placed fifth in the triple jump, recording a distance of 14.95 meters (49-00.75). Dickens earned four points for the Cajuns.
The 4X400 meter relay team placed fifth with a time of 3:12.48, earning five points.
The men placed ninth in the meet with 47 points.
In women’s action, the Cajuns captured two top finishes in the javelin throw. Amy Doucet placed fourth with a throw of 37.88 meters (134-03), earning five points. Cherise Gautreaux finished fifth with a throw of 37.50 meters (129-05), earning four points.
The women’s 4X100 meter relay team earned two points after finishing seventh with a time of 47.60 seconds. The 4X400 meter relay team also placed seventh, recording a time of 3:55.58. The team earned two points for the UL women.
Kayla Vice was the top Cajuns finisher for the meet with 10 points. Vice placed first in the women’s pole vault in Saturday’s portion of the championships.
The women placed 11th in the meet with 31 points.
Middle Tennessee took home the men’s championship trophy with 130 points. Western Kentucky placed first in women’s action with 143 points.
