Cross Country Leads the Pack at Wolfpack Invitational

Men's team places first at Wolfpack Invitational
Metairie, Louisiana – Southeastern Louisiana University junior Harry Wiggins turned in the overall fastest time in the men's 5k run at the Wolfpack Invitational on Saturday.

With a time of 15:13.68, Wiggins helped lead the men's team to a first place finish. The Lady Lions placed second overall. Freshmen Celia Zaeringer (18:14.30) and Clarissa Smith (18:27.55) placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively, leading the women's side for the second week in a row.

"This meet was a great chance to learn," said volunteer assistant coach Brandon Chapoton. "This was a great place to practice running in a pack, and we will need that going into conference."

Other top finishers for the Lions included: freshman Isaiah Gilbert (15:48.14, 5th), sophomore Leo Moreno (15:56.58, 6th), and sophomore Stephen Cassingham (15:56.66, 7th).

On the women's side, senior Katie Neil placed 8th with a time of 21:57.50 in the women's 5k run.

The Southeastern Louisiana University cross country teams will return to action on September 20th, at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge.
