Metairie, Louisiana – Southeastern Louisiana University junior
Harry Wiggins turned in the overall fastest time in the men's 5k run at the Wolfpack Invitational on Saturday.
With a time of 15:13.68, Wiggins helped lead the men's team to a first place finish. The Lady Lions placed second overall. Freshmen
Celia Zaeringer (18:14.30) and
Clarissa Smith (18:27.55) placed 2
nd and 3
rd, respectively, leading the women's side for the second week in a row.
"This meet was a great chance to learn," said volunteer assistant coach
Brandon Chapoton. "This was a great place to practice running in a pack, and we will need that going into conference."
Other top finishers for the Lions included: freshman
Isaiah Gilbert (15:48.14, 5
th), sophomore
Leo Moreno (15:56.58, 6
th), and sophomore
Stephen Cassingham (15:56.66, 7
th).
On the women's side, senior
Katie Neil placed 8
th with a time of 21:57.50 in the women's 5k run.
The Southeastern Louisiana University cross country teams will return to action on September 20
th, at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge.
