Hampton, Frazier, and Kinchen Lead Lions in Houston

Houston, TX-  The Southeastern Louisiana University track and field teams finished competition at the 11th J. Fred Duckett Twilight meet on Saturday.
 
Sophomore Misha Frazier, senior Derek Hampton, and sophomore Jonathan Kinchen returned home with event titles from Rice's annual home meet. Hampton won the men's javelin throw, tossing for 226 feet, seven inches; while Frazier placed first in the women's hammer throw, posting a distance of 179 feet, two inches. Kinchen clinched the men's hammer throw title with a mark of 199 feet, eleven inches.
 
The Lions relay team also posted a pair of top-three finishes. In the men's 4x100-meter relay, T.J. Herbert, Brandon Daniels, Emanuel Kennedy, Brian Verdin combined for a time of 40.78 to place second. Herbert, Verdin, Alex Holden, and Daniels also combined for a time of 3:14.64 in the men's 4x400, placing third.
 
The women's pole vault group posted three top-ten finishes: sophomore Sharon Ann Ourso placed fifth (12-02.00), freshman Whitney Adams came in sixth (12-02.00), and freshman Katelyn Whitekiller placed eighth (12-02.00). In the women's javelin throw, senior Jenna Baker earned second place with a throw of 144 feet, four inches.
 
Kadarius Williams and Clarence Robinson rounded out the top-three in the men's high jump event. Williams placed second with a mark of six feet, nine inches, while Robinson finished close behing in third (6-7.00). In the long jump, three Lions finished in the top ten: Brandon Daniels (4th, 23-11.50), Bryceton Walker (8th, 23-02.50) and Emanuel Kennedy (10th, 22-10.50).  
 
In the men's throwing events, the Lions continued to dominate the top-ten spots. Brett Olsen led the men in the discus throw, placing second (175-01), while Jeffrey Milliron finished close behind in fourth (170-09). Kinchen came in sixth (164-02), while Jimmy LeBlanc placed tenth (150-11). Olsen also placed third in the hammer throw (187-01), while Milliron (182-07) and LeBlanc (178-08) placed fourth and eighth, consecutively. In the shot put, Olsen came in fourth (52-10.00) while Kinchen placed seventh (50-00.75).
 
Southeastern is now gearing up for the Black and Gold Invitational, hosted by University of Southern Mississippi.
