Nicholls has Monster Weekend at Southeastern Lion Invitational and LSU Alumni Gol

THIBODAUX, La. – Led by Jackie White, the Nicholls State University Women's Track and Field team had a productive weekend, combining for 18 top-ten performances over two days at the Southeastern Lion Invitational and LSU Alumni Gold meet.
 
White was the story of the weekend, taking first in the 800 meter run at the Southeastern Lion Invitational on Friday, and again at the LSU Alumni Gold on Saturday. White finished with a time of 2:10.53 at LSU, setting a career best, and was only three hundredths of a second away from the school record. White also contributed to a third place finish in the 4x400 meter relay at Southwestern and an eighth place finish in the event at LSU.
 
Jaimee Springer continued her steady efforts in the Javelin, adding a second place finish at Southeastern. She came in fifth at LSU with a throw of 45.43 meters, her farthest in outdoor competition this season.
 
Tessni Carruthers had a strong meet at Southeastern, finishing fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:20.99, and contributing to a third place finish in the 4x400 meter relay.
 
Emily Charlesworth rounded out the top ten performances for Nicholls in the 800 meter run, finishing sixth with a time of 2:26.57 at Southeastern.
 
Ashley JohnsonKyesha ThomasQuadri Newson and Dasia McCullum finished 6th in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 48.08 on Friday. Cymone Hamilton, Beauncha Lewis,Ashley Wheeler and Kierranika Duncan came in eighth with a time of 50.35. On Saturday, Johnson, Newson, Hamilton and McCullum finished eighth, with a time of 48.46.
 
In the 4x400, Carruthers, Lewis, Thomas and White finished third on Friday, before Johnson, Newson, Rachante Colebrook and White took eighth on Saturday with a time of 3:52.84.
 
Colebrook had a fifth place finish in the 400 meter hurtles, setting a personal record with a time of 1:07.66. Lewis finished 10th in the event at 1:12.09.
 
Nicholls combined for five top-ten finishes in the triple jump over the weekend. On Friday, Destiny Lemalle jumped 11.06 meters, finishing fifth, Wheeler jumped 11.01 meters, finishing 6th, and Amalechi Eweni came in 8th with a jump of 10.82 meters. On Saturday, Duncan jumped 11.32 meters for eighth place, and Eweni jumped 10.65 meters to take ninth.
 
The Colonels will look to continue their outstanding performances at the Ole Miss Duals in Oxford on Saturday.
