Field Athletes Pace Southeastern in Lake Charles

Lake Charles, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University track and field teams wrapped up competition at the 2014 McNeese Springtime Classic on Saturday afternoon.
 
The day proved to be successful for the Lion and Lady Lion field athletes, as 13 recorded top-five performances at the Cameron Communications Track and Field Complex.
 
Junior Brett Olsen placed first in the men's discus throw, posting a mark of 179 feet, two inches. Seniors Jeffrey Milliron (177-07.00) and Jarrod Hale (155-05.00) came in close behind Olsen, finishing in 2nd and 5th place, respectively.
 
Milliron also placed first in the men's shot put, tossing for a distance of fifty-two feet, ten inches. Sophomores Jonathan Kinchen (50-08.75) and Jimmy LeBlanc (49-09.00) finished third and fourth, respectively.
 
In the men's hammer throw, Kinchen posted the second-place mark of 205 feet, one inch; while Olsen tossed for 191 feet, seven inches, placing third.  
 
Other top-five finishes for the men included: Bryceton Walker (5th, 43-11.75) in the triple jump, Andrew Bridge (4th, 164-06.00) in javelin, Dwayne Woodard (55.95) in the 400-meter hurdles, and Emanuel Kennedy in the long jump (4th, 22-11.25).  
 
On the women's side, Jenna Baker recorded the top Lady Lion performance. The senior from Mandeville placed second in the women's javelin throw, tossing for 142 feet, one inch.
 
Misha Frazier took home a pair of third place finishes, while Briannce Golden placed fifth in her respective event. Frazier posted marks of forty-five feet, 9.75 inches in the shot put and 171 feet, nine inches in the hammer throw; as Golden tossed for 141 feet, nine inches.
 
The Southeastern track and field teams will now be gearing up for their annual home meet, the Southeastern Lion Invitational. The meet will be held April 18-19 at the Southeastern Track Complex. For more information, click here
