Robertson Leads Privateers at Tulane Team Relays

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Blake Robertson led the Privateers' contingent in the 1500-meter event against in-state competition at the Tulane Team Relays on Saturday at Tad Gormley Stadium.

Robertson won his heat of the event, and took fourth place overall with a time of 4:08.63. Robertson, who has recorded three second place finishes in the Fall with teammate Dustin Kinard during the cross country season, won his heat by nearly three seconds over Mike Corso of Loyola.

The day started with a personal record in the throwing events. Margot Grozier participated in the hammer throw, and recorded a best throw of 102'2" on her fifth attempt. In the final throw, Grozier just missed topping her personal best by one inch.

Elena Villar wound up third in the javelin to help highlight the Privateers' throwing events. Villar opened up in second place after the first round. On her second throw, Villar improved her best by nearly nine feet. In total, Villar wound up in third place with a best throw of 114'.

Chelise Brown finished second in her heat of the 100-meter with a time of 12.85. Brown also participated in the 200-meter and wound up with a time of 26.91 seconds.

The next event of the outdoor season will see the Privateers travel back to Lake Charles to participate in the McNeese State Spring Time Classic on Apr. 12.
