Southeastern Track and Field Brings Season-Bests Back From Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Southeastern Louisiana Track and Field teams wrapped up the final day of competition at the Alabama Relays, hosted by the University of Alabama.

"This was a very good college track meet," said head coach Sean Brady. "A lot of teams from some very good conferences were there this weekend."

Several Southeastern athletes set personal and/or season-best marks, while five turned in top-five performances.

On the men's side, Clarence Robinson tied for fifth in the men's high jump (6-6 ¾), while Brandon Daniels set a new outdoor personal record with a third-place mark of twenty-four feet, 5.5 inches in the long jump.

Junior Brett Olsen set a new personal record in the men's discus, earning fifth place (182-0). Harry Wiggins turned in a time of 10:09.58 in the men's 3000-meter steeple chase, placing third. T.J. Herbert earned sixth place with a season-best time of 10.57 in the men's 100 meter dash invitational.

But the performance from freshman Alex Holden in the men's 800-meter run was, according to Brady, the highlight of the weekend.

"Alex Holden really had the performance of the meet," said Brady. "He did really well, especially for a freshman."

Holden recorded a time of 1:51.18, earning fifth place.

On the women's side, the 1600-meter relay team set a season-best record. Domonique WhiteVanessa Williams, Bayleigh Butler, and Alicia Noel combined for a time of 3:47.45, placing eighth.

The women's 400-meter relay team also placed eighth. Nia StewartVanessa WilliamsKaelynn Smith, and Domonique White combined for a time of 47.54.

Alicia Noel set a lifetime best (9th, 14.30) in the 100-meter hurdles, while teammates Charlyn Miller (14.50) and Teirral Thompson (14.53) set personal bests in the same event.

"We were a bit flat yesterday after competing right after we stepped out of the vans," said Brady. "But today we woke up and had some really good performances."
