Boys Composite Poll
- 1. (0) St Paul’s - After St. Paul’s district meet, it appears that everyone in their top 5 has now run under 16 minutes. Plainly put, if they run to their potential it they could put their top 5 before any teams #2 (with excpetion to the Robinson twins of Hahnville). Will this be their year to break “the curse”? With the curse showing a few week’s early (Zach Albright’s 17th place showing at district) , hopefully it is all out of this team’s system and they can win the team’s first ever 5A crown.
- 2. (0) Catholic - Although if you go with stats this team would be ranked 3rd according to PR’s. However, throwing in consistency and this team’s placings to ther ranked counterparts, this team deserves the number 2 spot, never losing to another LA team in ’13, with exception of course to St. Paul’s.
- 3. (+2) Jesuit - Jesuit is the big surprise for week #8. At districts, they move up over Brother Martin and John Curtis, as the pack improves and put 7 in front of some of the aformentioned 3. Jesuit has made big strides and has made their bid known for runner-up honors at state.
- 4. (-1) John Curtis, falls a spot this week after an “off” performance at districts and their loss to Jesuit.
- 5. (-1) Brother Martin - the database shows this team as #5, and we agree whole heatidly after some of the head to head battles mixed with this team’s top times and averages.
- 6. (+1) Shaw - Database has this team at 7, however, they continue to improve and beat Episcopal the team our database ranked ahead of them, in their last meeting (Walker).
- 7. (-1) Episcopal- The small school powerhouse looks well poised to claim they 1500th 2A team title. With a team average of 16:42, we have to ask who in 2A could beat them?
- 8. (+1) Pochatoula - the team from nowhere? Some might say this team pulled a John Curtis. Can’t remember the last time a Ponchatoula team was ranked top 10 in state but with the times these boys have been throwing down recently we rank them as high as 8th.
- 9. (+2) Benton - We overlooked a few results, while others we simply dont have, but with late in the game information - this is a team we probably should have been ranking all year. Welcome to the polls boys.
- 10. (-2) West Monroe - West Monroe is int he midst of a rebuilding year, although they have a history of showing up to Nachitoches, we rank them 10th here, given them a slight edge over some of the other teams in consideration based of their abaility to surprise and because they are the defending champions.
