Colonels Wrap Up Season At Conference Meet

LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Nicholls State University men's and women's cross country teams completed the 2013 season at the Southland Conference Cross Country Championships at the Ward 3 Rec Complex in Lake Charles this morning and came away with a 10th place finish for the women and 14th place finish for the men.

After earning all-conference honors a season ago, junior Tessni Carruthers was the highest finisher on either side on Friday, finishing 12th to earn honorable mention honors, while Sebie O'Neill was the highest finisher for the men.

Carruthers trekked the 6K women's course in 22 minutes, 11.7 seconds to earn honorable mention honors for the year, and was followed by Sarah Pressley who set a new personal record in the distance with her time of 23:08.5 as she finished 31st overall.

O'Neill was the low stick for the men's team as he finished 56th overall with his time of 27:23.6, followed by Jake Lee who finished in 28:49 for 68th place.

Jackie White completed the race and finished 36th individually with her time of 23:20.6 as she was the last Colonel runner to finish in the top 50 on the day.

Rounding out the Nicholls men was Reece Vitale who finished in a time of 31:59.3, Kane Daigle with his time of 34:08.1 and Jonathan Comeaux with his time of 36:26.2.

For the women, Emily Charlesworth capped the season with a time of 25:22.1, while Ashley Johnson finished in 26:40.2, Victoria Williams in 27:15.3 and Terrian Gauff andPrecious Semien finishing in 29:55.3 and 30:09.1 respectively.
