Loyola women’s XC takes 3rd place at Watson Ford

(Clinton, Miss.) The Loyola University New Orleans cross country teams traveled to Clinton, Mississippi to compete in the Watson Ford Invitational on Friday. The women’s team came away with a third place finish among non NCAA Division I schools. 

Senior Annie Hills had her second top 10 finish of the year as she paced the Wolf Pack with a time of 25:02.48 in the 6K race which was the sixth fastest time of the race. Kennedi Henneberger took 14th place at the meet with a time of 25:46.12. Denise Powell and Haley Milsark finished less than a second apart in 21st and 22nd place. Jessica Williams rounded out the scoring as she completed the race in 28:26.16. Williams was the first of four Pack runners who finished eight spots apart. The squad took home 3rd place as 18 schools brought runners to the race, four of whom were NCAA Division one schools. The women’s team also finished ahead of three of the four NCAA D-1 schools. 

In the men’s race, Sophomore Jonathan Malbrue took 14th place as he completed the 8K in a time of 28:32.34. Freshman Alexander Morano’s time of 29:59.00 was the 27th fastest time for a non NCAA Division I runner. The men’s team did not receive a team score. 

Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams will be back in action on October 18th as they head to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to take part in the Crimson Classic at 5 p.m.
