NSU's Gladney leads Demons to second place finish

SHREVEPORT – Junior Albert Gladney's led the Northwestern State men's cross country team to a second place overall finish at the Centenary Invitational 8K Saturday morning at the Clyde Fant Disc Course.
 
Other institutions racing included the host Gents, East Texas Baptist, Grambling, Jarvis Christian, Louisiana College, LeTourneau, LSU-Shreveport, University of Dallas, UT-Tyler and Wiley College.
 
"The team did really well today, especially after a hard week of training," said first year head coach Amy Guinn. "Our overall finish is what we need to be doing as a team – to be working together and come in as a team."
 
UT-Tyler earned the first place finish with 53 points, followed by the Demons with 79 and Grambling State with 84.
 
Gladney finished fourth overall with a time of 28:02.3, just ahead of sophomore Mitch Landry with a time of 28:31.7.
 
Freshman William Harris and sophomore Jeremy Elliot earned 21st and 22nd place finishes with times of 30:19.5 and 30:27.2, respectively.
 
Freshmen Lucas Moncla and Skylor Reese rounded out NSU with times of 30:40.2 and 34:19.7.
 
The men's and women's cross country teams will participate in the Demon Invitational on Saturday at the Walter P. Ledet Track Complex. The women's race kicks off at 9:00, followed by the men's race at 9:45.
