Southeastern Cross Country Shines on Course and Off

Wiggins posted a time of 21:18.09, while LeGrange crossed the finish line close behind at 21:23.46. The sophomore from Prairieville and the senior from Baton Rouge combined to lead the Southeastern men to a 7th place finish overall.

Joseph Edwards and Leo Moreno also finished in the top 50 on the men's side, posting times of 22:22.45 and 22:23.17 respectively.

Heather Fitzhenry posted another strong performance for the women, recording a time of  21:41.16 in the 5k race. Fitzhenry finished 42nd overall, while Katie Neil(22:48.23) and Jennifer Ernst (24:12.46) also finished in the top 55.

Southeastern shined off the course as well, as two members of the Lion Athletic Training staff aided a fallen runner earlier that morning. Before the collegiate runs took place, McNeese held a "fun run" for a local charity.

A participant collapsed before crossing the finish line, and Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer Matt Reynolds and student assistant Walter Smith were the first on the scene. They administered CPR as well as the use of a defibrillator to help stabilize the runner until first responders arrived.

The Lions and Lady Lions will return to action on October 19th when they travel to the Choctaw Open, hosted by Mississippi College.
