Ragin' Cajuns Finish Fourth, Fifth At McNeese State Cowboy Stampede

Devitt crossed the finish line in 18:03.83 as she led the Ragin' Cajuns to a fifth-place finish on the women's side. Pearce led Louisiana to a fourth-place finish on the men's side after crossing the line in 20:20.42.

McNeese State, bolstered by six runners finishing in the top seven, claimed the men's title with 17 points followed by LSU (71), Louisiana Tech (96), Central Arkansas (107), Louisiana (114) and Tulane (171). Tulane claimed the women's race with 43 points followed by LSU (62), McNeese State (69), Louisiana (87) and Nicholls State (143.)

"Our expectations were not that high coming into the meet as we trained heavily during the week and had some heavy legs," head coach Lon Badeaux said.  "We took the opportunity to rest some of our runners and get them aiming for the prize at the end of season at the (Sun Belt) conference meet."

Corbett Ourso earned an 11th-place finish on the men's side after posting a time of 20:38.57 with Jacob Chicola (21:24.70), Trey Bonin (21:53.85), Alex Hebert (22:13.79), Sean Bezdek (22:16.01) and Christian Bergeron (23:42.80) all competing for the men's team.

On the women's side, Claire Hodges earned a ninth-place finish for the Ragin' Cajuns in 19:12.02. The freshman was followed by Jessica Donald (20:06.71), Courtney Musgrove (20:08.63), Genevieve Roy (20:28.68), Camille Barnett (21:19.84) and Kaylei Esfeller (21:31.32).

"We didn't run our No. 2 runner on the men's side and our No. 3 and 4 runners on the women's side," Badeaux said.  "Logan and Corbett each ran a good race for us and Anna did a great job for us on the women's side.  I was encouraged by the effort of Jessica Donald and Courtney Musgrove.  I thought both ran well for us today and they can help us as get deeper into the season."
