Carter First Man Since Jesse Owens to Win 4 NCAA Titles

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- With a 4x100 meter relay title on Friday and three more on the final day of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, LSU\'s Xavier Carter became the first man to win four championships in one meet since Jesse Owens, taking home the 100 (10.09), 400 (44.53) and 1600 relay (3:01.58) on Saturday.


In the final event of the afternoon for the Lady Tigers, the 4x400 meter relay team of Brooklynn Morris, Meisue Francis, Juanita Broaddus and Deonna Lawrence dominated from midway through the race to post the fastest time in the world in 2006 (3:25.79) and win the NCAA title.


The time was also a meet record.


LSU\'s men\'s team finished second in the team competition with 51 points, as Florida State won the title with 67 points.


The Lady Tigers vaulted into a tie for seventh overall with 30 points, with SEC rival Auburn winning the team title with 57 points.
