Malia had an awesome freshman year, she won the Class 2A CC title, was third in the Div. II 3200 meters indoors, finished the track season with a pair of state records and wins in the 1600 and 3200 and was eighth in the 800 meters outdoors. She continued her training in the summer and posted a second place finish in the AAU JO's 3000 meters with a time of 10:29 to Tennessee's Amber Zimmerman who won with a 10:20. Cali also finished seventh in the 1500 with personal best time of 4:50. Now she is ready to compete in CC, she opened-up the season with a17:43 for three miles to win the Bayou Boogie Invite. Malia's goal for the CC season is to try and run as close to 17:15 as possible and to break a 5:00 mile outdoors.
