BATON ROUGE -- A fifth-place finish by junior Andy Florek highlighted the LSU cross country team’s efforts at their Tiger Festival on Saturday as the men placed first and the women were fifth overall.

BATON ROUGE -- Louisiana Tech head coach Gary Stanley called the day a “cliff-hanger.” It truly was a tight finish, but, unfortunately for the Bulldogs, it was two-points in LSU’s favor that gave Tech a close second-place finish at the 2008 LSU Cross Country Invitational at Highland Park in Baton Rouge, La.

   BATON ROUGE – McNeese State freshman David Rooney had the best run for the university at the LSU cross country classic on Saturday, the rookie from Ireland finishing fourth in the 8K run with a 25:24.9 clocking.

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane women's cross country team came in second at the LSU Tiger Festival, led by top 10 finishes from Aubrey Phillips, Julia Whitrock and Rebecca Coady. The Green Wave men came in ninth, led by Kevin Lynch, Saturday at Highland Road Park in Baton Rouge.

BATON ROUGE – Freshman Alex Breaux turned in another Top 10 finish for Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s cross country team here Saturday morning in the LSU Tigers Cross Country Festival held at Highland Road Park.

Baton Rouge, La.- Lauren Fereday led the Wolfpack with a 42nd place finish in the women’s 6K and Chris Kelliher was tops for the men placing 57th in the men’s 8K as Loyola cross country teams competed in the LSU Invitational on Saturday morning.

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The LSU men’s cross country team opened the season in strong fashion as the squad posted a second-place finish Saturday in the Pre-SEC Invitational hosted by Mississippi State.

MONROE, La.—The Centenary men’s and women’s cross country teams took part in the ULM Warhawk Invitational over the weekend. The Ladies Brittany Wilkens placed second overall and helped her team to a second place finish. Adam Nerio finished 30th individually as the Gents landed in sixth place as a team.

FRISCO, Texas - Southeastern Louisiana University sophomore Henry Rop was named the Souhtland Conference Cross Country Athlete of the Week after placing second and leading the Lions to a fourth place finish at the Azalea City Classic on Saturday the league office announced on Tuesday.  Rop, who transferred to Southeastern from Union University, wins the award in his first cross country meet with the Lions.

BATON ROUGE, LA -- Southern University men's and women's cross country finally got the chance to hit the trails, as they hosted the Southern University Invitational on Saturday morning. Due to Hurricane Ike, Mississippi Valley State was the only other team to participate. SU's cross-country season has been decimated by the 2008 Hurricane season. All meets had been canceled up to this date.

MEMPHIS - The Tulane men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2008 campaign at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Invitational Saturday night in Memphis. The Green Wave women placed sixth of 36 teams, with Rebecca Coady leading Tulane in 15th place. The Tulane men, reestablishing the program in the first meet since 2004, came in 22nd, led by freshman Jordon Holtzman.

MOBILE, Ala. -  The Southeastern Louisiana University men's and women's cross country teams finally got their 2008 campaigns underway on Saturday as the Lady Lions placed two in the top three en route to a second place finish and the men's squad boasted a pair of top ten finishers to take fourth at the 36th Annual Azalea City Classic hosted by South Alabama on Saturday.

RUSTON -- The inclement weather held off Saturday morning at Lincoln Parish Park and allowed head coach Gary Stanley's Bulldogs to sweep the triple dual meet thanks in part to a first place finish by senior Kinsey Dinnel.

RUSTON, La.—The Centenary cross country teams kicked off their seasons by participating in the Louisiana Tech Mook 4 Invitational on Saturday morning just hours before the far-reaching rain and wind bands of Hurricane Ike arrived. Both teams defeated Louisiana College, while the women also handily bested the host Lady Techsters.
