Track Wraps Up Birmingham Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Nicholls State University women's track and field team wrapped up one of the largest meets the team will see this year, wrapping up competition in the Birmingham Invitational Thursday.

Ingvild Vedde continues to climb up the Nicholls charts, finishing seventh in the first heat of the 1-mile run in 5:05.06, besting her second best all-time mark in the event from earlier this season. Tessni Carruthers finished first in her heat of the event, crossing the tape in 5:21.56, placing her ninth all-time as a Colonel.

Kryshell Rolle won her heat of the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the tape in the preliminaries in 9.01 seconds, which is tied for second all time. In the finals Rolle finished in 9.09 seconds.

Barlitra Dirance finished first in her heat of the 400-meter dash, finishing the race in 59.42 seconds.

Jackie White finished third in her heat of the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:17.96, just a little over .89 seconds off of her personal best time, while Ashley Johnson finished in 2:21.58, which is now sixth all time at Nicholls.

The distance medley relay team finished third in 12:21.14, which is now third all-time in Nicholls history.

The women's track and field team will be back in action next Friday and Saturday, returning to McNeese for the second of their two meets this year.
