LSU Men\'s DMR Breaks School Record at Armory!

The LSU Men\'s DMR team of Michael Hendry, Austin Benton, Ise Phillips, and Pat Gavin made their mark in LSU Track & Field history by setting a new school DMR record of 9:41.6 at the 2006 Armory Collegiate Games in New York City. The Tigers also won the event in the process, helping the men\'s team in their hunt for a possible team championship.

Michael Hendry led things off with a blistering 2:59 1200 leg, and handed off to fellow Baton Rouge native Austin Benton who proceeded to split 46 point on his 400 leg. The only non-Louisiana native on the team, Ise Phillips, ran a solid 1:51 half mile to keep the Tigers in position for the win. Pat Gavin brought the title home for the Tigers with an impressive 4:03 mile on anchor. It was a three team race with 400 to go and Gavin accelerated to gap the field.

Congratulations to the Tigers for their outstanding performance!
