NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Nicholls men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2011 Southland Conference Championships on Monday and came away with an eighth place finish for the women and 12th place finish for the men.
Led by
Ingvild Vedde and
Jessica McLeod, the Colonel women finished eighth with an average time of 23:24.3 as Vedde finished 28th overall with a time of 22:50.3, followed by McLeod who finished right after in 29th with a time of 22:52.9.
Tessni Carruthers finished 37th in 23:17.8 and
Emily Charlesworth 46th in 23:28.2 to round out runners who finished in the top 50.
Jackie White finished the 6K course in 24:32.5, while
Sarah Pressley finished in 24:52.5, Ashley Johnson finished in 25:35.5 and
Emily Carrere rounded out the women's contingent in 29:11.4. The team finished with 206 points.
The men's team finished with an average time of 29:23.6 and 337 points, paced by
Blaine Gisclair who finished in 28:38.5.
Kane Daigle finished the 8K race in 29:17.3, followed by
Reece Vitale finishing in 29:33.3,
Tyler Folse in 29:37.8,
Sebie O'Neill in 29:51.3 and
Nick Benoit completing the group with a time 30:42.1.
The two teams will be back in action in a week as they prepare for the NCAA South Central Regional Championships in Waco, Texas on Nov. 10.
