Nicholls Track Returns to Houston

THIBODAUX - The Nicholls State University track and field team returns to Houston for the second time in the last three weeks on Friday as the Colonels return to Yeoman Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Houston for the Houston Indoor Invitational.

The Colonels hope their second trip to Houston this month will be just as productive as their first.  Nicholls was led by senior distance runner Lauren Jones, who shattered the program's 5K record at the Leonard Hilton Invitational on Jan. 14.

Nicholls will be part of a 19-team field at the two day event.  The Colonels will be measuring themselves up against conference rivals such as Texas-San Antonio, Texas State, Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston State, Lamar, McNeese State and Northwestern State, regional powers like Southern Miss, Rice and host Houston, and national power Texas.

The two-day event kicks off on Friday with the Colonels seeing their first action in the women's 400 m beginning at 4:30.  Live results are available at www.uhcougars.com.
