Loyola cross country completes regular season in Southeast Classic

 ROME, Ga. - The Loyola University New Orleans men’s and women’s cross country teams wrapped up their regular season on Saturday, running in the Southeast Classic hosted by Berry College.

Loyola had a good showing in the meet as a total of nine runners set personal best times. Overall, the men’s team placed 21st with an average time of 29:41 in the 8K while the women averaged 21:10 for the 5K, placing 15th.

The men’s top three runners set career best times with Kenny Tsao (28:12) leading the way, followed by Abraham Thacker (28:22) and Galen Westerfield (30:05). Also with personal bests were Chris Graugnard (31:26) and Lonterio DeVaull (32:34). Rounding out the men’s runners were Alex Mayon (30:18) and Alex Hall (32:07).

Pacing the women’s squad was Madeline Falcone, taking 54th with a career best 20:08. Vanessa Righeimer (20:36 ), Jenna Knoblach (20:55), and Elizabeth Gienger (21:45) also set personal best times for the 5K. The other women’s runners were Mary Clara Hutchison (22:26), Dawn Schomisch (23:19), Samara Jacobovitz (23:42), and Lauren Fereday (24:31)

Both teams are back in action on Nov. 6 for the SSAC Championship, held in Gulfport, Miss. starting at 8 a.m.
