Colonel Stroll Set for Saturday

THIBODAUX - The Nicholls State University athletic department will host its annual Stroll for Student Athlete Scholarships as part of the university's Family Day activities on Saturday, Oct. 23.

The stroll begins at the student union lobby on the Nicholls campus at 9 a.m.  Participants will pick up their free t-shirt at registration at 8:30 a.m.  After walking the Nicholls campus, participants will get a free buffet breakfast at the Galliano Dining Hall, and Nicholls student athletes and coaches will meet with participants.  The event will conclude in time for participants to enjoy all the other Family Day activites on campus leading up to the Colonels' 4 p.m. kickoff against Central Arkansas.

"We have about 125 people signed up right now, but we're hoping to get up to 200," Nicholls Senior Women's Administrator Louise "Do" Bonin said.  "This is a great event that allows people to enjoy the campus and help raise money for the scholarship fund.  In the past, this event has made it possible to award fifth-year aid to student athletes and to send more of our student athletes to summer school.  This is one way that people in the community can directly support the education of Nicholls student athletes."

Entry into the stroll is $20 per person with five-person teams available for $100.  All participants get a free buffet breakfast and a free t-shirt.  Children under six can participate in the stroll for free and can purchase a ticket for the breakfast afterwards.
