RUSTON--The Louisiana Tech Track and Field team finished the first day out of four days in the 82nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas Wednesday as Tech's distance runners were the only competitors on day one.

"We just got done with day one and we had some good performances," Tech head coach Gary Stanley said. "We had some distance events today and tomorrow we'll have the hurdles events and a couple of relays with the only final being the 800 which we have a couple of guys in."

Freshmen Alwayne Green and Jermaine Morris each competed in the 800 today for the Bulldogs. Green won his section of the 800 with a time of 1:53.97 putting him in fourth place going into the finals tomorrow. Morris finished sixth in the same section with a time of 1:55.66 and holds a 13th place ranking for the finals.

According to Stanley, competing in this prominent meet on such a big stage is a big step for many of these athletes.

"All of us are extremely excited to be competing in one of the most prestigious meets in the nation," Stanley said. "This meet is the second largest meet in the country and it's a big deal for athletes to be competing in it with some of the best talent in the U.S. as our team continues to go for our goal to be conference champions this season."
