The Lafayette girls broke the Louisiana state record in the 4x800 meter relay this past weekend at the Texas Relays. The squad of Gentry Jacquet, Taylor Stansbury, Angelle Primeaux, and Sydney Minor finished fourth against some of the best teams in Texas with a final time of 9:22.09. An impressive 2:20 split average per leg.

The quartet's state record performance was one of several incredible performances by Louisiana preps at the University of Texas. Led by Mondo Duplantis setting the World Junior and U.S. high school record in the pole vault with a clearance of 19'4.25". Parkview Baptist's Tzuriel Pedigo also broke the meet record winning the javelin with a throw of 204'8".

Three more state leading times came of the girls relays with the Brusly girls holding their own against the best in Texas in the 4x100 (48.18) and 4x200 (1:40.63), while the C.E. Byrd girls dipped well under 4 minutes in the 4x400 (3:52.75).

C.E. Byrd's Kyah Loyd also benefited from the competition and a great tailwind at the Texas Relays to clock very swift new state leading times of 11.67 in the 100 meter dash and 13.75 in the 100 meter hurdles.
