Top 10 meets 2015

Tie- 10) Calvary Baptist Invite: The lone north LA meet besides the state meet is known for fast times early in the season. Comparable to some of the south LA courses, if an athlete run fast here he will most likely run fast on other courses in the state.

Tie- 10) John Curtis Season Opener: This meet is only 2 years old but last year brought in 2 New Balance Nationals qualifiers, 9 individual state champions, and over a half dozen top 10 composite teams.

9) STA Rollette Invite: The STA course is known for PRs and holds some of the states fastest times in the past few years. Expect more of the same this year as the course should be upgrades from the construction that took place last year.

8) Northshore Metro Championship: This meet is known for fast times and bringing in top tier talent from the northshore area.

7) EHS Round Table Run: This is the first Highland meet where teams are really ready to get out there and perform. It has often fallen on the ACT date which makes it hard to always have the top dogs, but either way the meet brings a very competitive vibe.

6) St. Joe’s Invite: Call it Catholic High Lite, this meet brings out many top teams from around the state for the first weekend of October which, like last year, can often times means great conditions.

5) East Baton Rouge Metro Championship: A November meet at Highland can only mean two things: super competitive teams and ridiculously fast times. It has taken low 15’s to win this race in previous years, expect that trend to continue.

4) Sugar Bowl NOLA Metro Championship: This meet brought together an amazing crop of runners from the New Orleans area and as long as the new City Park course is in play, this meet will stay fast and exciting.

3) Walker High Invite: The Walker High meet is a relative newcomer, just a decade or so old, but has been an amazing place for athletes to come and attempt to set PR’s. With construction on the course happening soon, we will have to see how long this meet stays a premiere race.

2) Catholic High Invite: This is the bragging rights state championship. Anyone from LA who is anybody makes it out to this meet and the coveted orange t-shirts are as good as gold.

1) LHSAA State Meet: This is a no brainer, although until the state moves the state meet to 2 or 3 Divisions instead of 7 classes, this meet will barely edge out the others in terms of competitiveness.
