Casper gets pole vault record for second straight week

RESULTS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
Junior McNeese Cowgirl pole vaulter Nicole Casper made school history for the second consecutive week on Saturday when she set a new school record in the women's pole vault after she cleared 12-feet, 9 ½-inches to win the event and lead the Cowgirls to the highest Division I team score in the UAB Green and Gold Indoor Invite to join the Cowboys as the men's team leader to help McNeese sweep the team titles among Division I scoring.

Casper's mark was two inches higher than her clearing at last week's Texas A&M 13 Invite where she broke her own two year old record. Here gold was one of three individual wins for the Cowgirls on the day while the Cowboys had three first place finishes and swept first, second, and third in the 3,000 meters.

Simone Johnson took first in the women's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.66 after she ran a 7.71 in the preliminaries. Leonie Weber scored 10 points for the Cowgirls after she won the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:17.88 as the two joined Casper atop the medal stand.

On the men's side, the Cowboys dominated the 3,000 meters as Fisher Hamilton (8:43.13), Oliver James (8:47.12), and Ryan Holroyd (9:05.35) finished 1-2-3 in the event to score a total of 24 points.

Enock Bor won the 5,000 meter run with a time of 14:47.44 and also placed second in the 1-mile race at 4:27.54 to contribute a total of 18 points to the team score.

Dakota Breaux was the third Cowboy winner on the day after he took first in the pole vault with a height of 14-5.25 to win the event by an entire foot.

Other top three finishes for the Cowgirls saw Danielle Epps place third in the 60 meters with a 7.71 time; Victoria Martin third in the 400 meters at 58.19; Lauren Thompson second in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.66; and Maya Tunwar third in the high jump at 5-2.50.

Other Cowboys that placed in the top three include Benjamin Jones at third in the 60 meters with a time of 6.98; Kartavius Hamilton third in the long jump at 22-7.25; John Lemke second in the triple jump at 47-7.25; and Hiram Morales second in the shot put at 49-1.50.
