CONWAY, Ark. –
The Nicholls State University women's track and field team finished its outdoor season on Sunday in the 2014 Southland Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships and senior Jackie White highlighted the day by earning the gold medal in the 800 meter, giving Nicholls its first gold in the conference championships.

White, a native of Spring Hill, Fla., crossed the tape at 2 minutes, 11.44 seconds, defeating HBU's Kierstin Santanta by 1.11 seconds for the gold. White bested her time from last year's 800-meter finals of 2:12.37, which landed her a silver medal. Earning the bronze for the 800 was UCA's Jordan Chadwick.

For the weekend, Nicholls had two medalists – one gold and one silver. On Saturday, senior Jaimee Springer added a silver in the javelin to her lustrous career. Nicholls finished the weekend with 22 team points, giving the Colonels a 12th-place finish along with Abilene Christian.

Other notables from Sunday were freshman Destini LeMalle, who took sixth place in the triple jump with a distance of 11.9 meters, and junior Tessni Carruthers posted a 4:48.92 in the 1500 meter for a ninth-place finish.
