Haro Leads Cross Country at NCAA Regional

WACO, Texas -- The LSU men\'s and women\'s cross country teams wrapped up their seasons Saturday at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships as the women finished 11th and the men were 13th in the final team standings.


Both Arkansas\' men\'s and women\'s teams punched their tickets to the NCAA Championships, sweeping the meet\'s team titles with 24 and 30 points, respectively. Also earning automatic bids to the national meet were Texas (51) on the men\'s side and host Baylor (83) on the women\'s side, as both earned runner-up honors.


The Lady Tigers finished the day with 298 points and the Tigers tallied 306.


"I think based on what we brought to the table we did alright today," said LSU cross country coach Mark Elliott. "It was a deeper field than last year and I think it went the best it could."


The Lady Tigers were once again led by junior Rachael Graham who finished the 6K course in 21:54.9. The time, a personal best on the course, placed her 29th amongst the talent-packed field.


Following Graham across the finish line and scoring for the Lady Tigers were Megan Broussard (62nd, 22:52.0), Erin Vandivort (70th, 23:09.6), Lindsay Day (83rd, 23:37.5) and Katie Dawson (85th, 23:42.9).


The men were led by senior Drew Haro for the fifth consecutive meet of the season. Haro posted a personal best of 31:29.7 on the 10K course to place 29th overall.


He was followed by Michael Hendry (55thm 32:27.4), Brett Borne (71st, 33:06.8), Matthew Guy (88th, 33:43.8) and Michael Florek (92nd, 33:51.1) who also scored for the Tigers.
