Seven New PR's Highlight HBU Invitational For Nicholls

HOUSTON, Texas – The Nicholls State University men's and women's cross country teams fared well on Friday evening at the HBU Invitational at Houston Baptist, getting seven new personal best times at the event, while junior runner Tessni Carruthers had the best overall time among college athletes to continue her hot streak in meets.

New personal best times were claimed by Sebie O'Neil, Reece VitaleJake Lee and Kane Daigle on the men's side, while Sarah PressleyBeunca Lewis and Precious Semienset new personal records for the women.

Tessni Carruthers had the highest finish of the day for both squads, earning the top time among collegiate women with her run of 18 minutes, 3.00 seconds to pace the team for fourth overall, finishing ahead of three runners from Baylor University. Nicholls finished fourth in the team standings with an average time of 20:22.60.

Sarah Pressley improved her career best time after competing in Lake Charles two weeks ago, finishing 13th overall with her time of 18:49 to move into the top ten overall at Nicholls in the 5K.

O'Neil finished 12th among collegians and 21st overall with his time of 16:24, while Lee finished not too far behind with his time of 16:45. The men's team finished fifth with an average time of 18:27.20. Vitale finished with a time of 18:07, with Daigle clocking in at 18:59 and Jonathan Comeaux at 22:01.

Emily Charlesworth finished the race with a time of 21:10, as Ashley Johnson came in right after at 21:11. Victoria Williams checks in with her time of 22:40, while Beunca Lewisand Semien round out the group with their times of 25:09 and 25:14, respectively.
