Carruthers Named Southland Cross Country Athlete of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – Nicholls State University junior runner Tessni Carruthers was named the Southland Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week today the league announced, after her standout performance at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede last Saturday.

Carruthers earns the first weekly league award for Nicholls this season, as she set a new school record in the 5K distance in winning the women's individual championship at the event in Lake Charles.

The British Columbia, Canada, native earned her first individual title of the season, finishing the course in 17:51.55 which broke the old school record which was two years old.
